10th Annual Blogiversary Contest — Prize: Me! Wait…er, What?

Gift box with text "Want to win 'me'? Wait... What?"

It’s that time of year again. My ten-year blogiversary is coming up on July 12th. Holy cow. Ten years? Really?

I think it’s now official that I’ve been blogging for forever. Or maybe after the past few years’ never-ending health issues, it just feels that way. *smile*

Once again, I’m amazed I found that much to blog about, not just in the number of posts (over 1000!) but the length of my posts. I can’t begin to count the number of times I’ve come up with a blog topic and said, “Oh, this one will be short,” and ended up with 2500 (or more!) words. *sigh*

Reminder Announcement:
As I announced last time, after 1000+ posts and ten years of publishing articles every Tuesday and Thursday, I’m giving myself the gift of an irregular schedule. So this is a great time to make sure you’re signed up for my blog-post newsletter so you don’t miss any of my new scheduled-when-I-feel-like-it posts! 🙂

I haven’t been the only one writing. My readers have left several thousand comments on my blog, and many talented guest posters helped me during this past year. That’s an amazing amount of conversation and shared stories and tips, and it’s all thanks to you (almost half-a-million visitors and five million page views just this past year!). You’re the reason I blog.

(Your supportive comments on my last post about my burnout and need to switch to a flexible blog publishing schedule just reiterate how much you’re why I do this. Thank you for your understanding — and for being awesome!)

To thank you, I’m celebrating by holding a contest. For those who weren’t around last year, let me back up…

A blogiversary contest—that’s pretty normal, right? But there’s a reason I call myself insane. There’s a reason I write paranormal. There’s a reason my motto is “Why be normal?”

I don’t want to do normal.

So for this contest celebrating this blog and all the readers that make it awesome, the prize is…me.

Enter Jami Gold's blogiversary contest for a chance to win! Click To TweetWell, not “me” literally, but my time and/or money. You get to pick what that means. (Disclaimer: Subject to reasonability, privacy concerns, and legality. I haven’t landed in jail yet, and I don’t intend to start now. *smile*)

I want this contest to be for all my readers, whether you’re a writer or not, whether you’re published or not, whether you’re a newbie or not. If you win, you decide how I can be most helpful to you.

Some ideas:

  • Signed copies of any two of Treasured Claim, Pure Sacrifice, Ironclad Devotion, or Stone-Cold Heart from my Mythos Legacy series
  • $25 Amazon gift certificate
  • Free registration to any of my online workshops, including my Lost Your Pants? An Impatient Writer’s Guide to Plotting a Story workshop or my newest workshop, the romance-focused Between the Sheets: Create a Deeper Romance with the Romance Beat Sheet
  • Detailed critique of your opening pages up to 1200 words
  • Critique of your synopsis and/or query letter
  • Beta read up to 5K words (includes feedback on overall premise, characterization, and pacing, but not in-depth editing or grammar)
  • Analysis of your story’s structure and story/character arcs
  • Mentoring/walk-through help on one project (blog/website, developing a premise, business plan, social media platform, etc.)
  • Email brainstorming (story ideas: digging out from plot hole, branding ideas: coming up with tagline, etc.)
  • I’ll write a guest post for your blog
  • You’ll get to write a guest post for this blog (subject to my guest post policies)
  • Three books from my general blog contest collection (books I’ve picked up from conferences)
  • Pick my brain about anything (grammar questions, copies of the writing advice documents I’ve collected, a list of the writing advice bookmarks I’ve saved, etc.)
  • Or anything else you can think of…within reason. *smile*

To enter, leave a comment. It’s just that easy. (Yep, that means those of you reading this via RSS or newsletter should visit my site so you can wave hello in a comment.) And yes, even if you’ve won in previous years, you’re welcome to enter again!

Maybe tell me what you’d like to win, or make up a funny choice to amuse us all. Introduce yourself if you’ve never commented before. Or tell me how stupid you think this contest idea is. Whatever. It will all count.

Also, I’ll pick an additional winner for every 50 commenters (not including my comments). So if 1-50 different people comment on this post, I’ll pick one winner. If 51-100 different people comment, I’ll pick two winners. And so forth. Because the more the merrier!

This contest will close at midnight Eastern time on Sunday, July 12th, 2019. The winner(s) will be chosen randomly and announced on my official blogiversary post on Tuesday, July 14th. Good luck!

Do you want to win something? If so, tell me about it!

P.S. Not sure if your comment posted? This post has so many comments—good for creating more winners!—that all comments won’t show up at first. Either click “newest” on the bar under the form below to sort the messages in reverse order or click the “Load More Comments” button at the bottom of all the comments to see yours. (But keep in mind that new commenters will go through moderation first.)

Happy blogiversary! I’d probably pick the analysis of my story’s structure and character arcs. But I’m not 100% sure – all the options sound awesome. 😉

Congratulations Jami! What a huge milestone to reach… seriously, the amount of information you’ve provided aspiring and published authors is incredible.

I would definitely go for the 1200 word critique! That would be so awesome. 🙂

This is a super cool contest! Thank you so much for offering this for everyone.

Bill Cokas

As much as I’ve learned from your blog and articles, I would love the chance for direct feedback. You bet I’m in.

I’ll miss your helpful hints, Jami, thanks for being part of my writing community for so long. Many thanks again for the expert guidance, and for letting me be one of your guest bloggers. Of course, I’d love to ‘win’ you, and, if you are ever in the Canadian Rockies region, it will include dinner.

Congrats on the anniversary! The last week or so has been crazy and I’m behind on emails so I actually haven’t read your last one – I’m sorry to hear you’ve been burned out! It’s wonderful you’re being proactive and taking a break from a set blog schedule. I hope this truly helps you. Your posts are wonderful, and so detailed that I wait to read until I’ve got time to really think about them (not just skim). We appreciate the time and effort you put into the posts.

This is an awesome giveaway! My brain is fried so I don’t know what I want with all these amazing choices…a gift card or opening pages critique or synopsis and query letter critique…so many great things you’re offering here. Thanks for the opportunity to enter.

So sorry to hear you have a burn-out! I missed that last post apparently. Hope everything will get better soon.

I would have loved to treat you to cake & coffee (or a cheeky glass of wine, lol… Heck, let’s make it a bottle because why not?) to celebrate 10 years of blogging, because even though I don’t always comment, your blog posts have been a huge help. But since I live on the other side of the pond, that’ll be a tad bit difficult to arrange 🙂 Should you ever visit the Netherlands, the offer still stands though!

Not sure what I would pick as my prize — it all sounds amazing!

I love your blog- it’s the only one I star and keep in my email *high five*!
Your opinion on my story or help with the synopsis would be (insert awesome adjective.)
Thanks for posting information that is actually fun to read, enormously helpful, and super academic all at the same time.

Good luck everyone.

I’d love to win a prize! I’ve subscribed for years. Your worksheets and tips have helped me get published, and I still refer to them all the time. Thanks so much!

And if I am forced to pick one option, it would be anything that puts my work in front of you for a critique. I’d love your feedback.

Happy 10th! So many awesome choices you’ve given the future lucky winners. Sorry you’re feeling the burnout. I’ve shared a review blog with two friends for over six years now, and last year we switched to an easier, more fluid schedule. Fortunately, our page reads haven’t skipped a beat, and we all feel so much better and less stressed. I think it’s made for better posts. Hope it works as well for you. You’ve been a huge help as I’ve been writing my first book. In fact, I’m almost done! So thank you for all your great advice through your posts.
